Giant Panda "Xiang Xiang" (female), born at Ueno Zoo on June 12, 2017, was to be returned to China, which holds ownership, by December 31, 2021, according to an agreement between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the China Wildlife Conservation Association. However, this has been postponed as follows:
