The renovation work on the outdoor enclosure West Garden 's "Panda Forest," which began on January 26th, has been completed, and the outdoor enclosure will be reopened on Tuesday, March 19th. The new enclosure locations for keeping and managing the pandas are as follows:

Ri Ri: Indoor exhibit room 1, outdoor enclosure C, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (10:30 AM - 4:00 PM if only indoor exhibit is available)
Shin Shin: Not open to the public, Outdoor enclosures A and B, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (cannot be viewed if indoors)
Xiaoxiao Leilei: Indoor exhibit rooms 2 and 3, outdoor enclosure D, 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM

*Shin Shin's exhibit is outdoors only. You cannot see her if you are indoors.
*Depending on the crowd situation on the day, registration may close earlier than the scheduled deadline.
*Please note that the schedule may change without notice depending on the animals' health condition, etc.
*Depending on the animals and preparation status, the public viewing may begin earlier than scheduled.
*Due to operational reasons, the Xiaoxiao Leilei exhibit may only be available in either Indoor Exhibition Room 2 or 3.



At Ueno Zoo, visitors will be guided to view Giant Panda in the order they line up.

Giant Panda
Xiaoxiao (male) was born on June 23, 2021 Ueno Zoo
Lei Lei (female) was born on June 23, 2021 Ueno Zoo
Shinshin (female) was born on July 3, 2005, at the Wolong Conservation Center in China.
Ri Ri (male) was born on August 16, 2005, at the Wolong Conservation Center in China.

Opening time
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
*The queue for viewing usually closes at 3:30 PM for Xiaoxiao and Leilei, and at 4:00 PM for Xinxin and Lili.
Also, depending on the crowd situation on the day, we may close registration earlier than the usual closing time.
*Please note that the schedule may change without notice depending on the animals' health condition, etc.
*Depending on the animals and preparation status, the viewing may begin earlier than 10:00 AM.

Viewing Instructions
Xiao Xiao and Lei Lei will be viewed in areas designated as ① to ③ in the diagram below. Please follow the instructions of the staff when moving between areas. For Xin Xin and Li Li, outdoor viewing is free, but indoor viewing will be in the order of arrival.


*Please note that there are separate viewing lines for Xiaoxiao and Leilei, and for Xinxin and Lili. You will not be able to view them at the same time.
*If you wish to view Xiao Xiao and Lei Lei, please line up at the entrance under Aesop Bridge. If you wish to view Shin Shin and Ri Ri, please line up at the entrance on Red Panda side.
*In viewing areas ① to ③ for Xiaoxiao and Leilei, the number of viewers and viewing time per area will be limited.
Viewing capacity: Approximately 25 people at most. Viewing time: Approximately 1 minute per area.
*You will be asked to move to locations ① to ③ in the diagram above, as instructed by the staff. The staff will inform you of the timing of your move.
*If you are queuing outside "Panda Forest," please follow the instructions and guidance of the staff at the site (see the image below).
*The viewing queue may change depending on the crowd situation.
*Viewing methods may change without notice.

Precautions
  1. To prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all visitors, please refrain from running in the park and proceed with your visit calmly.
  2. Even within the designated viewing hours, you may not be able to see Giant Panda if they are in a hidden area within the enclosure, or if the exhibit is suddenly closed for health reasons.
  3. Photography is permitted, but flash photography is prohibited. Please observe this rule to avoid startling the animals. Also, as viewing time is limited, please refrain from staying in the same spot for extended periods to take photos, and be considerate of others while viewing the animals.
  4. Please refrain from making loud noises or voices in the viewing area so as not to startle the animals.
  5. Please follow the guidance and instructions of the staff while viewing the exhibits. We ask that you refrain from any behavior that may disturb other visitors.
  6. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, Ueno Zoo has established "New Ways to Enjoy the Zoo." We ask that you please abide by these rules when visiting the zoo.
    ① When talking at close range or in crowded areas, please cooperate by wearing a mask.
    ② Please cooperate by washing your hands and disinfecting them frequently.
    ③ Please maintain social distancing while viewing the exhibits.
    ④ Please refrain from standing in one place for extended periods while viewing the exhibits.
    ⑤ Please refrain from touching the glass or other surfaces of the exhibition facilities.
    ⑥ Please watch quietly without raising your voice.
