Our zoo is working in cooperation with other zoos to promote the breeding of the rare Sumatran Tiger.
We are pleased to announce that two of the three cubs born on December 4, 2023, to "Mimpi" (female, born at Yokohama Zoological Gardens Zoorasia) and "Bran" (male, born at Sendai Yagiyama Zoological Park), "Alona" (male) and "Makumuru" (female), will be transferred to Nagoya Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in accordance with the Sumatran Tiger management plan of the Japanese Association Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Regarding future exhibitions
The two animals will be kept together as usual until June 15, 2025 (Sunday), the day before their transfer (*). However, please note that they may be taken off-limits to the public before June 15 depending on the animals' condition.
*Because they are released into the outdoor enclosure in rotation with other Sumatran Tiger, they may not be visible at certain times.
