On Saturday, May 19, 2007, Snow Leopard cub was born! The mother is 8-year-old Mayu (born May 4, 1999 Tama Zoo), and the father is estimated to be 16-year-old Chingiz (arrived from Almaty Zoo in Kazakhstan on October 13, 2000).

This is Mayu's second litter. In 2005, she gave birth to two cubs with Chingiz. Of those two cubs, Sirius is living happily at Adventure World in Wakayama Prefecture, and Akbar is living happily at Maruyama Zoo in Hokkaido.

One baby was born this time. Its sex is unknown. We are currently monitoring it on a screen. We began showing the baby via video feed on June 1st, 2007 (Friday) (depending on the mother and baby's condition, we may suspend the exhibit or show recorded footage).

Including the cub, there are currently seven Snow Leopard at Tama Zoo (2 males, 4 females, and 1 of unknown age).
