African Bush Elephant Tom, publicly revealed.
└─2012/12/03

On November 27, 2012, a 3-year-old male African Bush Elephant elephant named "Tomu" arrived at the zoo from Ehime Prefectural Tobe Zoo (news here). Immediately after his arrival, Tom seemed restless, but he calmed down day by day. He also became accustomed to Chiki (female), who was acting as his nurse in the next room, and Chiki seemed to care for her new companion, so they were allowed to live together.

Starting Tuesday, December 4th, we will begin practicing on the outdoor playground. The scheduled exhibition time is from 10:00 AM to 3:45 PM.

Please note that Tom is allowed to go in and out of the indoor area freely, so he may not be available for viewing. Also, please understand that he may not be available for viewing or may be brought inside earlier due to weather conditions or the animals' health management. Tom will be in the same exercise area as Chiki.

Release date: December 4, 2012 (Tuesday)
Exhibit location: African Bush Elephant enclosure
