Two Serval pups (one male and one female) were born at Tama Zoo on Monday, April 8, 2024.

The mother is "Aki" (born April 23, 2017 at Belgrade Zoo, arrived at the zoo on November 18, 2020), and the father is "Apollo" (born September 28, 2015 Tama Zoo). This is Aki's second time raising offspring. (Click here for details on the birth and raising of offspring in October 2022)

Surveillance camera footage confirmed the birth of the first cub around 10:30 PM on April 8th, and the second around 11:00 PM. The mother was seen diligently caring for her offspring, including nursing and licking them. Aki is also eating all of her food, and both mother and cubs are doing well.

The decision regarding public release is still undecided, as we will be making a decision based on how the parent and child are doing. We will inform you as soon as a decision is made.
