Common Wolf Moro has died.
└─2013/08/14

Moro, a female Common Wolf (subspecies Common Wolf), died on August 12, 2013, at an estimated age of 15. The cause of death was osteosarcoma.

Moro arrived from Moscow Zoo on August 3, 2001, and was named "Moro" through a public naming contest. Initially, Moro was very wary, and animal keeper had difficulty bringing him back inside after letting him out into the exercise area.

In 2005, she successfully bred with a male named "Robo" for the first time, raising five cubs. Subsequently, she gave birth to two more cubs in 2006, four in 2007, and four in 2008, making a significant contribution to the formation of the current wolf pack alongside Robo.

The wolves moved to the wolf enclosure in the new facility, "Asian Plains," on March 6th of this year (2013). We had hoped that visitors would be able to see the pack, centered around the great mother and father, in the new facility, but unfortunately, Moro's public appearance will only be for a short period.

I would like to express my gratitude once again to Moro, who showed us so many different aspects of wolves through his time in the pack.
