The first baby White-handed Gibbon has been born at Tama Zoo!

Mother: Mitsu (8 years old), born March 8, 2007, at Nishiyama Zoo in Sabae City.
Father: Tete (6 years old), born May 9, 2008, at Kochi Prefectural Noichi Zoological Park.

Release schedule, etc.　
Both the mother and calf are doing well, and they will be on public display mainly during the warmer hours of the day at the White-handed Nagar enclosure in Asian Zone, while we monitor their health.
We also plan to post the name on our website once it has been decided.

Including the baby born this time, we now have three pups (two males and one female).

Choosing a name for your child (March 28, 2015)

The child's name is, "Hari" We decided on this name. We took part of the Malay word Matahari (sun). Incidentally, Hari alone means "day".
