Chiki arrived at our park from Fuji Natural Animal Park on June 14, 1999. Unfortunately, she was not able to breed at our park, but she was a kind-hearted individual who took good care of the baby elephants that lived with her in the past.

Due to the worsening of chronic arthritis associated with aging, she had recently become unsteady on her feet, and although we continued to provide care, we confirmed her death at noon on the 26th.

Following Chiki's death, Tama Zoo now has two African Bush Elephant (one male and one female).
