A female Giraffe calf was born at Tama Zoo on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Her name is "Yui".

The mother is "Eucalyptus" (born September 14, 2006 Tama Zoo), and the father is "Jill" (born May 22, 2013 at Saitama Children's Zoo, arrived at Tama Zoological Park on June 29, 2015). This is the 194th litter born at Tama Zoo.

Upon reviewing the nighttime observation video, it was determined that the mother's water broke around 1:30 AM on the 11th, and she gave birth at 2:02 AM. The baby stood up about 50 minutes later, and breastfeeding was confirmed shortly afterward. The baby's head height was approximately 170 cm, which is an average size.

For a while, the parent and offspring will stay together, gradually getting used to the group. If they grow well, we plan to introduce them to the group in about one to one and a half months.
