On Thursday, April 10, 2025, the "Eurasian Moorhen Area" of African Zone Tama Zoo was renovated.

With the renovation work now complete and the surrounding paths open to the public, visitors can now enjoy watching Giraffe leisurely roaming the spacious enclosure and view various explanatory panels about the animals.

The new information panels include ecological information about the four animal species that will be kept in Eurasian Moorhen area (Giraffe, Grevy's Zebra, Scimitar-horned Oryx, and Great White Pelican), as well as hands-on exhibits where visitors can learn by touching the animals, and life-size silhouette panels that allow visitors to experience their actual size.

Once the situation regarding highly pathogenic avian influenza in Japan has subsided, we plan to move Great White Pelican from their temporary enclosure to the newly renovated pelican pond. We are also making preparations and arrangements to move the animals to Domestic Horse and oryx enclosure, which will be completed in 2024, with a target date of this autumn.

We will inform you again when we move the animals to the new Eurasian Moorhen area. Please look forward to the reopening of the cohabitation exhibit of Giraffe, Grevy's Zebra, Scimitar-horned Oryx, and Great White Pelican.

Furthermore, we plan to continue implementing improvements to the park grounds, such as adding perimeter fences for the park paths, to create better facilities.
