Have you ever thought this at an aquarium?
└─2024/12/20
Have you ever been to an aquarium and wondered, "Why does this creature have such a strange shape?" or "Where is my favorite creature?" Perhaps you've had the experience of leaving with unanswered questions because you didn't have anyone or a place to ask. Well, at Tokyo Sea Life Park there's a place where you can resolve those kinds of questions: the Information Desk!

In Information Desk, we have prepared various materials, such as specimens and video footage, to help you learn more about living creatures, and we look forward to your visit. What we want to tell you about Information Desk today is that "there are always staff members there"! Here, our staff members are dedicated to satisfying the intellectual curiosity of our visitors every day.

In Information Desk, staff members will broaden visitors' interests through conversation.

Let me share a personal anecdote. While I was in Information Desk, a boy who was interested in sharks came up to me and asked, "Why do sharks have teeth of different shapes?" For example, the catshark eats shellfish with hard shells like turban shells, so its teeth are shaped to easily crack them open. The goblin shark lives in the deep sea where it is difficult to find prey, so its teeth are shaped to prevent its prey from escaping. When I explained that the shape of the teeth is suited to the animal's diet and eating habits, the boy looked at the shark tooth specimens on display and said, "It looks like this tooth is used like this!" and "Why are the teeth on the top and bottom different shapes?" He was very interested. Through his interaction with the staff, he seemed to have gained new insights into living creatures and found new things that piqued his curiosity. There is no end to human curiosity.

If you have any questions or concerns about the animals you see at the aquarium, please feel free to visit Information Desk. Chatting with our staff and exploring the fascinating aspects of the animals together might lead to new perspectives and discoveries you never knew existed!

We look forward to your visit to Information Desk.
