Last time, I introduced how Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle came to the banana trap (a bag containing a mixture of bananas, shochu, and brown sugar) that we set up in the "Animal Plaza" at Inokashira Inokashira Park Zoo.

Since then, as the weather has become increasingly hot and humid, various insects other than rhinoceros beetles, such as Japanese rhinoceros beetles, white-spotted flower beetles, and stag beetles, have been visiting the Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle traps.
However, all we could see were those that came during the day. Hoping that there might be bigger creatures at night, we took photos of the scene every six minutes. In addition to Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle and butterflies, we also saw large moths such as the hibiscus leaf moth and the hawk moth, and it was clear that the banana trap was busier after dark or in the morning.
The second session of "Exploring Local Creatures," a program that searches for wild animals within the park, including the "Creature Plaza," will take place from dusk to night. You might even encounter creatures that are difficult to see during the daytime. Advance registration is required, and the deadline is July 30th!
