Ueno Zoo is scheduled to return Xiang Xiang, Giant Panda born on June 12, 2017, to China by December 31, 2020 (information regarding the return deadline can be found here).

The name Xiang Xiang embodies the wish that she will grow up like a flower, be loved by everyone, and become a panda that brightly illuminates the future. As her name suggests, Xiang Xiang has grown up loved by everyone, and we hope that she will become a presence that brightly illuminates the future of pandas. To this end, we will launch the project "Bloom, Panda's Future - Thank You Xiang Xiang" on October 28th, "Panda Day" (*).

This event will be streamed on Ueno Zoo Zoo website, Tokyo Zoo Net YouTube channel, and Ueno Zoo official Twitter account, so you can enjoy it from the comfort of your home.

Further details about the project, including its end date, will be announced on Ueno Zoo Zoo website as they become available.

*Regarding "Panda Day"
Ueno Zoo has designated October 28th as "Panda Day" because it was on October 28, 1972, that the first Giant Panda in Japan arrived at the zoo.

To protect the rare Giant Panda, we are sharing what we can do now as part of "Panda Action" on Ueno Zoo official Twitter account, using six hashtags.

Examples: #Learn about Giant Panda, #Don't waste resources

Please retweet or quote-retweet any of the Panda Action tweets that you feel you can personally perform, instead of making a declaration. We will release unreleased footage depending on the number of tweets that receive a total of 5,000 retweets.

*Regarding Giant Panda conservation, we refer to the idea that each individual should take some kind of action to raise awareness of conservation as "Panda Action."

To ensure that everyone can see Xiang Xiang until the end of her public viewing period, Ueno Zoo Official Twitter Therefore, we will be ending our current "#MorningPanda" project and will be sharing updates on Xiang Xiang's daily activities with the hashtag "#GoodMorningXiangXiang".

Advance reservations for numbered tickets are required for entry.

This entire event can be enjoyed online. If you wish to visit the park to see Xiang Xiang, you will need to obtain a numbered ticket in advance.
