An event themed "The Connection Between Humans and Animals: Exploring the Lives of the Jomon People" will be held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Archaeological Center and Tama Zoo.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Buried Cultural Properties Center, managed and operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Buried Cultural Properties Center, is a facility that conducts research, storage, and exhibitions of buried cultural properties in Tokyo. The nearest station is Tama Center Station, which is about an 8-minute ride on the Tama Monorail from Tama Zoo Station.

First, we will hold a gallery talk about the Jomon people and animals at the Tokyo Metropolitan Archaeological Research Center. We will learn about the lives of the people of that time using Jomon pottery and archaeological sites related to animals as clues, and we will also have the opportunity to touch and experience animal furs and taxidermied animals. Afterwards, we will travel to Tama Zoo by Tama Monorail and take a special guided tour "Animals of the Jomon Forest," which will take us to animals that had a close relationship with the Jomon people.

For the Jomon people, who lived in harmony with nature, the animals around them were both a vital food source and objects of fear and respect. As you look at Jomon pottery depicting animals and scenes of animals at dusk, reflect on the Jomon people's lifestyle and their relationship with animals, which differed greatly from that of today.

This event is for parents and children in the 4th grade and above. It's a fun activity where participants explore the area with worksheets in hand while engaging in conversation. Why not add it to your summer vacation plans?
