Inokashira Park Zoo New Year's Events 2013

Inokashira Park Zoo will be closed for the New Year holidays from December 29th (Saturday) to January 1st (Tuesday, public holiday). It will reopen on January 2nd (Wednesday), 2013.

◎A gift of a "Zodiac Pin Badge" from the gift shop.

Date and time: Wednesday, January 2, 2013, Thursday, January 3, 2013

On both days, the first 500 customers who purchase items at the park's gift shop will receive a special "Zodiac Pin Badge" (not for sale).


◎Disposable hand warmer gift

Date and time: Wednesday, January 2, 2013, Thursday, January 3, 2013

Location: Inokashira Park Zoo Main Gate, Front Gate, Middle Gate

On both days, the first 500 people will receive a disposable hand warmer.


◎Annual Crested Ibis

Dates: January 2nd (Wed) - January 31st (Thu), 2013
(Excluding days when the park is closed)

Present your annual pass at the shops and restaurants of Inokashira Park Zoo, Ueno Zoo, Tama Zoo, and Tokyo Sea Life Park to receive a 5% discount! (Some items are excluded. Please see here for details on annual passes.)


◎Year of the Snake Quiz Rally "Foot Watching"

2013 is the Year of the Snake. Snakes have long, slender bodies and no legs, allowing them to move skillfully underground and above ground, and to squeeze into narrow gaps. Inspired by snakes, which have evolved to lose their legs, we will be holding a quiz rally called "Foot Watching" where participants will observe the feet of other animals.

Date and time: December 22, 2012 (Saturday) - January 6, 2013 (Sunday)

Stamp books will be distributed at Main Gate of the zoo (main park) and at the front entrance of the aquatic life park (annex).
First 200 people each day (for both the zoo and aquatic animal park combined)

* On the following two days, we will give an original commemorative gift to anyone who visits all the locations.

◎New Year's director 's Zoo Guide

Inokashira Park Zoo director Narushima will be giving guided tours of the park to celebrate the New Year.

Dates: January 2nd (Wed) and 3rd (Thu), 2013
Each day from 11:30 to 12:00

◎New Year's Walnut Lottery

We'll be using walnut shells eaten by Japanese Squirrel to hold a walnut lottery. When you crack one open, you'll find interesting information about our exhibit animals and a lottery ticket. You might even win some unique items only available at our zoo!

Distribution dates for the forms: January 2nd (Wed) and 3rd (Thu), 2013
Each day from 12:00 PM *First 100 people

◎ Ryukyu Lion Dance by "Ryujin"

Unlike the lion dances of mainland Japan, the Ryukyu lion dance is different in both shape and size, inheriting the culture of Orient. Its powerful performance and expressive procession will captivate people of all ages.
