Chimpanzee "Kenta" has died.

Kenta, a male Chimpanzee at Tama Zoo, passed away on June 29, 2018, at the age of 37.
Kenta arrived at our zoo from Sapporo Maruyama Zoo on September 18, 1982. As the second-generation dominant male of our Chimpanzee group, he led the group for about 20 years, starting around 1998.
On the morning of June 29, 2018, staff members found the patient dead in their bedroom upon arriving for work. An autopsy conducted that same day revealed the cause of death to be circulatory failure.
