On the morning of Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the last remaining monkey on the monkey mountain entered the indoor, non-public area.
Consequently, the exhibit of Japanese Macaque, which were kept in the monkey enclosure, will be suspended until the facility renovation work is completed. (Japanese Macaque are also on display in the "Monkeys of the World" exhibit in front of the bison enclosure. (*))
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we appreciate your understanding.
*Please note that the passageway between the World Monkeys and American Bison will be closed all day until mid-December, and viewing will only be possible when the animals are indoors. For more details regarding the closure, please check

Added on November 12, 2024:
On Monday, November 11, 2024, we carried out the relocation of Japanese Macaque. Currently, one macaque remains in the monkey enclosure. With the completion of the relocation of this last macaque, the animal exhibit at the monkey enclosure, which has been running for over 90 years since October 1932, will come to an end.
Please note that the completion date is undetermined as we are waiting for the last animal to enter the indoor, non-public area on its own (it is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2025).
Due to facility renovation work, Japanese Macaque on the monkey mountain are currently being moved to a temporary enclosure. Japanese Macaque will stay in the temporary enclosure during the construction period. The move will be carried out in several stages, and the relocation of all macaques is expected to be completed by the end of March 2025.
During the construction period, Japanese Macaque will not be on public display at their new location. (Note that Japanese Macaque are also on display in the "World Monkeys" exhibit in front of the bison enclosure.)
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we appreciate your understanding.
