Located in a quiet and distinctive
suburb of Tokyo, Inokashira Park Zoo exhibits a variety
of Japanese species as well as an Asiatic elephant and
tropical birds. It contributes to conservation and breeding
of Japanese squirrels, mandarin ducks, and swans. |
 |
| At the center of the zoo, red-crowned
cranes and Yaku deer range freely. "Hanako" the Asiatic
elephant is the first elephant which came to Japan after
WWII. We also exhibit Amur cats, Japanese serows,
rhesus monkeys and raccoons. |

We exhibit Japanese freshwater fish and insects at the Aquatic Life House. Near the House, you can enjoy beautiful plumage of ducks, geese, swans, and cranes. In an effort to restore wild population of mandarin ducks, we are trying to breed and release them in the park. |
 |
| The park also comprises a botanical garden, a small pleisure ground, the library owned by Japanese poet Ujo Noguchi, and the Seibo Kitamura (Japanese sculptor) Museum. |
